Royal Bank of Scotland appoints ICO marketer

The Royal Bank of Scotland has appointed Richard Wetenhall, former vice-president of global markets at telecoms company ICO, as director of marketing and strategy at its corporate and institutional banking (CIB) division.

Wetenhall takes up the new post next week, reporting to managing director Johnny Cameron. The bank says he will provide “an experienced and senior strategic focus for the division” and advise CIB’s senior management team on marketing matters.

Cameron comments: “In an increasingly competitive business environment, it is very important that we continue to integrate our marketing and strategic capabilities to provide a focused and tailored service for our customers.”

Wetenhall left ICO after a management shake-up two months ago, and his previous position has not been filled.

Before joining ICO, he spent seven years at the consultancy McKinsey & Co, eventually reaching the position of senior engagement manager.
