MD Foods has appointed Frede Juulsen as its UK marketing director. He has immediately pledged to take the company into organic produce.
Juulsen says: “This is an area with huge potential. Organic food is good for the environment and good for people. There is a need to communicate the benefits to a wide range of customers. It has to be more than a niche area.” MD Foods is researching products in this sector.
Danish-born Juulsen replaces Andy Simpson, who is to become UK sales director. Juulsen was previously the director of the Denmark-based UK Centre division, which sets marketing plans and budgets for Danish-made MD Foods produce exported to the UK.
MD Foods brands include Lurpak Danish Butter, Gulp Longlife Milk and Doorstep Fresh Milk.
Juulsen, who maintains his export responsibilities between the UK and other markets, will also manage the integration of products from Swedish dairy company Arla with which MD Foods has an alliance.
He says: “The UK is very important to MD Foods as it increasingly becomes an international company.”
