Oxford Street parade looks for sponsors

London’s Oxford Street is looking for sponsors to back its first street parade.

London’s Oxford Street is looking for sponsors to back its first street parade.

The Oxford Street Association has booked the date for the event, to be called Oxford Street 2000, and is now in search of cash to support the parade and help raise money for millennium charities.

A source says sponsorship of Oxford Street 2000, which organisers hope will become an annual event, could cost up to &£500,000 for the main sponsor.

Further sponsorships are also under consideration, including deals similar to those used in sporting events, where products and companies become the official sponsors of the event for their product category.

A total of 40 to 50 exhibitors’ stands will also be available alongside the parade on the street itself, while media space to promote the parade has already been booked on London Underground. The parade will take place from 10.30am on August 13, 2000.
