Osram eclipses competition with lights for two minutes of darkness

With another eclipse due in 2070, light bulb manufacturer Osram will have plenty of time to assess whether its latest sales pitch was a success.

The company recognised the two minutes of darkness during the eclipse would provide retailers with a perfect opportunity to sell more lights and launched a once-in-a-lifetime promotion for its Osram Dulux El Sensor lamps.

It claims the Dulux El Sensor is the only lamp on the market which “is clever enough to react to an eclipse” as it automatically switches on when the light falls below a certain level.

Never mind, by the time the next eclipse occurs, the Dulux El Sensor could be a priceless antique…
