Radio One rethinks site to counter online rivals

Radio One this week launched a revamped Website, which is being promoted heavily both on-air and via the main BBC Website (www.bbc.co.uk).

The move is aimed at protecting the Radio One online brand by counteracting sites launched by rival commercial radio stations. The redesigned site features regular quizzes, chart and station playlist information, along with e-mail addresses for all of Radio One’s regular DJs.

The station offers the chance to subscribe to a weekly e-mail containing news about the station and site, and features a news section dedicated to music on the Web. It also has an extended gig and club guide.

The revamp comes as Chrysalis Radio prepares to launch two Websites next week to support its commercial radio stations Heart FM (www.heartfm.co.uk) and Galaxy (www.galaxyfm.co.uk).
