New PHD is understood to have scooped the &£10m media account for Warner Brothers films, beating Motive Communications and Manning Gottlieb Media to the prize.

The review was prompted after the previous incumbent, Grey Advertising’s media dependant Mediacom, merged with The Media Business, which already handled the conflicting Polygram Films.

Mediacom TMB declined to repitch for the account in a review handled by Nigel Sharrocks, general manager of Warner Bros International Theatrical Distributors in the UK.

Sharrocks was former managing director of Grey Advertising and worked on the Warner Bros account during his seven-year spell at the agency.

He left in 1997 and joined Warner Bros in March this year, where he has taken responsibility for all the company’s theatrical cinema releases in the UK.

Warner Bros’ most recent release is Eyes Wide Shut, the last film directed by the late Stanley Kubrick and starring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise as a married couple exploring their sexual fantasies. Other Warner Bros blockbusters include South Park, the movie from the Channel 4 cartoon of the same name, and The Matrix, an action movie starring Keanu Reeves.
