Bus tickets get fruity for a flick

The smell of a freshly baked apple pie is bound to get the juices flowing. Ticket media specialist TPL seems to have taken bus travellers taste buds to heart in publicising teen flick American Pie.

The smell of a freshly baked apple pie is bound to get the juices flowing.

Ticket media specialist TPL seems to have taken bus travellers taste buds to heart in publicising teen flick American Pie. Bus conductors in Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds and Southampton are to hand out bus tickets impregnated with the smell of apple pie.

Unsuspecting travellers will get a rude shock when they realise that one of the characters in the movie – high-school virgin Jason Briggs – destroys his mom’s pie while using it as a “woman substitute” before his school prom night.

TPL sales director Mandy Gaughan says: “The effect of a scent on the ticket creates a unique and potent advertising mechanism placed in the hands of a captive audience.”
