Motorola is using witty and quirky TV ads to promote its latest phones in a £4.2m campaign through McCann-Erickson London.

The agency has created two 30-second executions, the first of which features the Motorola v3688 and a couple kissing in a square.

The woman fails to notice as her mobile falls out of her bag, attracting the romantic designs of a terrapin, who winks and mounts the phone to a soundtrack ending with the voiceover: ‘V small, V light V sexyä’ The second ad features Timeport, which Motorola claims is the world’s first tri-band GSM phone.

It can be used in Europe, the US and Asia, and will soon provide Internet access.

Media is through Universal Mc Cann. The ads break on October 18.
