Young & Rubicam’s media specialist The Media Edge has hired former Walt Disney boss Andrew McLean as executive vice-president and client services director.
McLean was previously executive director of advertising and media at The Walt Disney Company Europe. Before that, he was business development director at The Media Centre – now MediaVest.
In his new role, McLean will be responsible for developing The Media Edge International’s key global corporate accounts and dealing with clients’ media requirements.
The Media Edge’s largest clients include Anderson Consulting, Citibank, Colgate Palmolive, United Airlines, Ericsson and Revlon.
McLean, who joins on November 1, will report to Paul Woolmington, president of The Media Edge. McLean will move from London to New York in January.
While at Disney, McLean supervised its $150m (&£94m) adspend in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, as well as managing relations with Disney’s agency of record, Carat.
He says: “Disney has been a wonderful place to work, but I could not resist the opportunities at The Media Edge, and the challenge of working in one of the greatest cities in the world.”
Woolmington says: “McLean’s international experience, both on the client and agency side, makes him perfect.”
