On the scent of shaggy dog tales

Has Marketing Week gone to the dogs? I read with interest your digests sections (MW October 7) and was struck by their animal nature.

Has Marketing Week gone to the dogs?

I read with interest your digests sections (MW October 7) and was struck by their animal nature.

On the media pages we were treated to a titbit about the launch of an online petshop through Manchester agency GCP. Then, to my surprise, flicking a few pages back I noticed the National Canine Defence League has signed a deal with Transnational to offer a new Bank of Scotland MasterCard, presumably with Pet’sPyjamas.com in mind.

The less-than-human stories didn’t stop there. The debate about the amusing Boddingtons cow advertisements rages on in the letters section. Which leads me on – from doggish credit cards to bulls-with-breasts and back again – to National Power, which got in on the act when its furry friend made an unlikely appearance on page nine.

Should your magazine be in need of more fluffy stories, maybe you could turn to that well-known private investigator – and publish ing house – Ace Ventura: the pet detective.
