McCann Worldwide rejigs regional chiefs

McCann-Erickson Worldwide has handed control of its Europe, Middle East and Africa region to North America boss Don Dillon.

Dillon, president and regional director of McCann-Erickson North America, replaces regional director Jim Heekin, who becomes president and chief executive of McCann-Erickson Worldwide in January.

Dillon will be based in London and also takes up the role in January.

He will be in charge of the largest regional operation for the network. It includes McCann-Erickson agencies spanning 96 cities in 73 countries with combined billings of $6bn (£3.75bn).

Dillon became director of North America in February 1998. He is also a member of the McCann-Erickson Worldwide Management Board.

He joined the agency in 1976 and has held top management posts at its offices around the world including Japan, Spain, Eastern Europe and the Philippines.

McCann-Erickson chairman John Dooner says: “Under Don’s leadership, McCann-Erickson North America has enjoyed an amazing period of growth and new business, including helping the New York office become the agency’s first billion-dollar agency.”

Tony Miller replaces Dillon, taking charge of 15 full service agencies in the US and Canada. Miller is chairman of the MacLaren McCann agency in Toronto and retains this position.
