Norm from Mars sighted by BT staff

It appears that the annoying Norm character used by Mars to sell its Twix bars has been popping up in the most unusual of places – the corridors of power at BT to be exact.

BT insiders have been alarmed by the sighting of a glass-wearing, greyish-hued geek attending various top-level meetings.

Could BT be trying to woo Norm in an attempt to lure him from Mars’ ads to their own as a successor to that other loveable character, ET?

Employees were relieved, however, when they realised the shady character was not Norm, but a Norm lookalike – none other than self-effacing Tim Evans.

Evans, BT head of marketing communications, has recently appeared in ads for the Radio Advertising Bureau, cheekily perching on a car bonnet whilst pitching BT products to a car radio listener. Has no one reported this to the ASA, as an example of irresponsible advertising?

Let’s hope Evans doesn’t pop up in more unusual places. Take a break, Tim. Don’t turn into Norm.
