IPC Magazines has promoted Caroline Ward to the role of managing director of TV weeklies division IPC tx, following the appointment of Sly Bailey to chief executive of IPC Group.

In her former role as publishing director, Ward oversaw business development and new media initiatives for the magazine.

Bailey says: “Caroline takes over at a very exciting time for the tx business. We have an aggressive agenda and she will drive the tx strategy by developing our market-leading portfolio of brands, both from a print and digital perspective.”

The appointment comes as IPC tx is poised to unveil a strategy – through IPC Group’s new media arm IPC Electric – for dealing with the advent of digital TV and new media.

Ward says: “The most important thing for us is to make sure we continue to be at the heart of UK television in all guises.

“The world of television is changing, bringing extraordinary opportunities and no one is better placed than tx to seize them.”

Ward joins the board of IPC Magazines from December 1.

Delaney Lund Knox Warren handles IPC tx’s &£3m advertising account.
