Conquest is tipped to win £20m BoS

Bank of Scotland, which is at the centre of a hostile bidding war for NatWest, is tipped to move its &£20m marketing and advertising services business out of Scotland and into a WPP team led by London-based Conquest.

The bank has shortlisted the McCann-Erickson UK Group – pitching with staff from its Edinburgh, Manchester and London offices – and a WPP team led by Conquest. But sources suggest a final decision has been made and executives at Bank of Scotland are looking favourably on Conquest’s presentation.

David Tittmuss, head of customer management for the Bank of Scotland group, declined to comment.

If Bank of Scotland chooses Conquest, it will be a remarkable coup for the agency. In an earlier round of presentations, it was shortlisted against Bartle Bogle Hegarty, McCann and the Leith Agency. It is unclear what impact BBH’s appointment to European bank UBS’s account two weeks ago had on the BoS pitch.
