Kellogg picks media chief in role reshuffle

David Walker has been appointed media controller at Kellogg, while retaining the role of marketing operations manager.

He takes over the post from Guy Longworth, who has become Kellogg’s UK marketing director (MW December 2).

Longworth’s other role as children’s marketing manager has been taken up by Clare Hetherington.

Walker, who joined Kellogg in 1993, will report to Longworth and have responsibility for appointing media agencies.

At present, media buying and planning is through MindShare.

A Kellogg spokeswoman says Walker has no plans to review its media.

As marketing operations manager, Walker heads a creative team designing on-pack promotions for UK cereals. He also has responsibility for consumer services.

Walker was a key player in the “Star Wars Experience” – an exhibition created by Kellogg and LucasFilm to support the launch of Star Wars One: The Phantom Menace.

Longworth says: “Walker has made an outstanding contribution to the business over the past 18 months. He has spearheaded the continued development of our promotional activity and direct marketing campaigns.”
