Octagon hires TDI boss Henley as sales head

Octagon Marketing, a division of the IPG-owned sports marketing and entertainment group, has appointed TDI executive Jane Henley as UK sales director.

Henley, who was business group director at the outdoor contractor, will be responsible for generating new business for three areas of Octagon’s operation: property representation, consulting and event management.

She has been replaced by Peter Clothier, who joins from CNN International, where he was an account manager in charge of an international business team. Prior to that, Clothier worked at The Economist.

Henley will report to senior vice-president Kevin Johnson, who joined Octagon last year from the New Millennium Experience Company.

Johnson says: “Henley is a highly respected operator in the media industry and has a proven track record in the strategic development of marketing solutions.”

At TDI, Henley managed half the company’s national sales team, working with outdoor specialists, agencies and clients. She says: “I’m looking forward to applying the disciplines learned in media sales to a company which is setting the pace in sponsorship.”

Before joining TDI, Henley spent six years at the Guardian Media Group, rising to sponsorship sales manager on The Guardian and Observer. She joined from Ogilvy & Mather.
