Publicis lands Worthington as the Leith scoops Grolsch

Publicis has won Bass’ £10m Worthington Creamflow account, while the Leith Agency has snatched the brewing and hotel giant’s £7m Grolsch (UK) business.

Worthington was awarded to Publicis after a three-way pitch against Leo Burnett and Fallon McElligott. Incumbent WCRS did not repitch.

Publicis managing director Grant Duncan says: “It is a great step forward to be working on the Bass roster.”

Bass marketing director Mark Hunter says: “Worthington is a key brand and we need the advertising to reflect its importance within our portfolio.”

The Leith, which already handles Bass’ Tennents portfolio, won the Grolsch account after a head-on battle last month against incumbent Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper.

Hunter says: “Both agencies performed excellently during the review. However, research showed the Leith’s creative theme hit home with consumers, so this is the route we have decided to follow.

“The brand has grown by 40 per cent over the past year and we need innovative ads to keep this momentum going,” he adds.
