New Jessops boss picks Faulds for media job

Photographic retailer Jessops has hired Scottish Power marketer Colin Martin and appointed Faulds Advertising to its media account.

Martin will lead Jessops in a move to appeal to a wider consumer base without alienating its specialist photographer customers.

He was previously marketing director for the retail division of Scottish Power, and had also worked for blue-chip retailers including Dixons Stores Group.

“Jessops is one of retail’s best kept secrets. I am looking to significantly improve brand awareness and sales,” says Martin.

As marketing director Martin takes responsibility for the 130-strong chain’s retail, Internet, mail order, commercial and wholesale divisions.

His first job has been hiring Faulds to the &£500,000 media account, which pitched against Feather Brooksbank, the incumbent was Total Media. Faulds begins work on the account immediately.

The chain’s creative work is carried out in-house. The brand aims to continue advertising in the specialist photographic magazines, but to broaden its market Faulds will formulate a new media strategy.

Jessops has also promoted retail operations controller Kiran Mistry to retail operations director, with responsibility for store performance and direction.
