Scotsman boss lands extra role
Andrew Neil, publisher of the Barclay Brothers-owned publishing company Press Holdings, has moved swiftly to replace Sunday Business managing director Andrew Hart with Steven Walker, managing director of The Scotsman Publications.
Hart left Sunday Business last week to take up the position of chief executive at the UK version of US-based Internet search engine Ask Jeeves (MW January 6).
At the same time, an announcement was made that Walker would combine his role managing The Scotsman, the Scotland on Sunday and Edinburgh Evening News with that of managing director of Sunday Business Publishing.
It is expected that he will continue to be based in Edinburgh and spend at least one day a week at Sunday Business’ offices in the Docklands.
Walker was only promoted to managing director of The Scotsman Publications in June last year.
Sunday Business achieved its highest-ever circulation of 64,356 for December last year. This represents a 3.7 per cent increase on November, which was the newspaper’s previous highest-ever circulation.
Hart joined the title in October 1998. He called an agency review which resulted in the appointment of Lansdown Conquest in place of DMB&B, whose contract ended in November 1998.
