Pet’s Pyjamas picks chief to head growth

Pet’s Pyjamas, the home shopping company for pet owners, has appointed Melinda Stubbs as marketing director.

Stubbs was previously BSkyB’s account manager for UK and Irish cable partners. Before that, she was marketing manager at Maryland Cable in the US.

Stubbs will oversee pan-European advertising for Internet portal site PetsPyjamas.com, as well as the company’s mail-order catalogue and interactive TV businesses.

She has been appointed alongside four other senior directors to spearhead the company’s European expansion.

Stubbs will report to managing director and co-founder Charles Fallon, and chief executive Alistair Angus.

Fallon says: “Strengthening the team will enable us to make significant inroads in Europe and reinforce our position in the UK.”

Pet’s Pyjamas recently appointed Saatchi & Saatchi to handle its &£15m pan-European ad account (MW December 9 1999).

The company reported fourth quarter UK and European sales of &£4m – over double the &£1.75m it achieved in the same period in 1998.
