The Thomson Travel Group will promote deputy managing director Shaun Powell to managing director.
Powell has held the role on a temporary basis since Richard Bowden-Doyle left the post in October to head a review of Thomson’s UK business.
Powell was promoted from marketing and commercial director to deputy managing director last year. He retained responsibility for marketing while a replacement was sought. He now hands his marketing brief to head of advertising and branding Breffni Walsh.
A Thomson spokeswoman declined to comment on Powell’s new role but confirmed the company is still looking for a board-level marketing director.
Sources say that when the UK review has been completed, Bowden-Doyle will move to an unspecified new role within the group.
