IMP wins £5m Net travel agent

Internet travel agent start-up 21st Century Travel has appointed the International Marketing & Promotions Group to handle its &£5m advertising account after a pitch against unnamed agencies.

A company spokeswoman says it is too early to say if the campaign will include television work, but claims the budget will be at least &£5m in the first four months of the drive.

21st Century has appointed BMP OMD to its media account following a pitch against MediaVest and Rogers & Rogers.

The company will launch in the UK in the second quarter of the year. It will then roll out to Germany, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain.

21st Century has appointed Lorraine Twohill, former sales and marketing manager at the Irish Tourist Board (ITB) in northern Europe, as head of marketing. Twohill was responsible for the ITB’s global Internet and e-commerce strategy.

The company has also named Ian Wilkins, ex-manager for leisure and distribution at Virgin Atlantic, as business manager.

Wilkins and Twohill will report to chief executive Lawrence Hunt.

21st Century is a joint venture between Swedish travel agency group Ticket Travel and UK travel technology company Rapid Travel Solutions.
