Redwood Publishing, the contract publishing company with clients including Boots and upmarket department store Harvey Nichols, is to drop “Publishing” from its name to reflect a move into other business.
Over the past year, Redwood’s interactive division, Redwood New Media, has picked up clients such as Boots, Molton Brown and Hasbro’s Action Man. The company hopes to double its client portfolio in this area over the next year.
Redwood chief executive Mike Potter says the company’s core business will remain as customer magazines, but adds: “We have responded to the market’s needs by becoming an agency which specialises in a broad range of integrated customer communications.”
The company has also launched a specialist mail-order catalogue division, Red Cat, which has an undisclosed client base. And in a joint venture with publisher Yellow M, Redwood has set up a luxury goods division called Red & Yellow. Its client base includes Alfred Dunhill.
Redwood, which was set up in 1983, produces magazines for Boots, Volvo, Marks & Spencer and Safeway. Its international division publishes magazines for HSBC, AC Nielsen and the Dallas-based retailer JC Penney.
