Warner Village Cinemas hunts head of marketing

Warner Village Cinemas is seeking its first marketing director to spearhead the development of state-of-the-art multiplexes.

The decision to create the new position was triggered by the exit of marketing manager Danielle Walsh.

A Warner Village spokesman refused to comment on whether Walsh had a job to go to, saying: “Our expansion plans are now in full-swing. We are also in the process of planning a 30-screen complex in Birmingham.

“We felt now was the time to upgrade the position.”

The appointee will report to managing director Melvyn Angell and control a &£7m marketing budget.

Mediacom TMB buys media, while creative work is handled by the design agency Alchemy.

The spokesman says the company wants to step up its marketing following the sale of rival Odeon to Cinven for &£280m and its planned merger with ABC Cinemas.

Warner Village operates 28 multiplexes and 12 in various stages of development. It sees its limit as about 40.
