Optimedia/FCA win £5m insurance site

InsuranceWide.com, which claims to be the UK’s first multi-product online insurance site, has appointed Optimedia and FCA to its &£5m business.

Optimedia will handle all media buying, while FCA will run the creative account. The two agencies are understood to have beaten one other agency team to secure the brief.

Media is likely to include TV and press ads, although the strategy has yet to be finalised.

InsuranceWide is owned by a consortium of companies, including Freeserve and Cox Insurance. The site, which acts as an online broker, sources its premium’s from seven of the top eight insurers in the UK and offers home, travel, motor and car breakdown cover.

Optimedia director Greg Turzynski says: “InsuranceWide is one of the few dot-com companies that is making money. It already has an established customer base – which is more than most online companies can boast.”

Online customers using the service simply type in the details of the insurance cover they require and they are almost instantly provided with the cheapest quote.
