EMAP music arm creates two new roles
EMAP’s music division, the Performance Network, has created two music management roles to drive brand extensions and cross-promotion across its magazine, radio and TV music brands.
Francis Currie, programming director of EMAP’s The Box TV music channel, has been appointed to the new role of music director, with effect from April 1.
Currie is responsible for portraying the EMAP Performance Network as a major music media player, improving relationships with the music industry and increasing access to performers for its brands.
Adam Turner, music business director of EMAP Radio, has been appointed managing director of music and events. He will develop and implement new ideas for brand extensions across the network which includes CDs, events and concerts.
Both will report to EMAP Performance Network managing director Dee Ford. They will work alongside Stephen Palmer, the division’s first marketing director, who is to join from Guardian Newspapers.
Malcolm Cox, EMAP Performance Network acting marketing director, says magazine brands such as Q and Smash Hits will be extended across different product fields.
Q is being primed as a radio brand and Kiss Mix TV – a tie up between Kiss 100 and Mixmag magazine – is planned for launch later this year (MW December 9).
Mixmag managing editor Andrew Harrison has been appointed as publisher of Mixmag and Select magazine.
