Coke offers youths secret Fanta romp

Coca-Cola GB is stepping up its assault on the youth market by offering teenagers the chance to win a 48-hour break in a teen-themed house, sponsored by its Fanta brand.

The scheme is open to groups of seven youngsters, two of whom must be aged 18 or over. The company is hiring two full-time hosts, who will cook and tidy up for the group.

The eight-bedroom “Fanta House”, situated in a secret location in the North-west, features an Internet café, an electronic games room, a table football room, and a chill-out zone. There is even an Arabian Nights-themed bedroom and a garden-themed bathroom.

Coca-Cola, which is running promotions in the teenage press and on radio to push the concept, is dubbing the initiative “the ultimate hang-out”.

But the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (Rospa) has highlighted the potential pitfalls in the scheme. A spokeswoman warns: “A full risk assessment must be carried out and the hosts should be fully briefed on safety. First aid training is essential and those staying in the house should not be allowed to take part in activities above their age or abilities.”
