Saintly Dave turns back the clock

The art world was out in force recently for the first Beck’s Futures Prize at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London.

Winning artist Roddy Buchanan, who walked off with &£24,000 of Scottish Courage’s dosh for his “gobstopper” video installation, looked in need of surgery to remove the grin from his face.

But the Diary’s eye was drawn to ageing rocker Dave Stewart, of the Eurythmics, who was handing out some of the prizes, dressed as a 14-year-old, in combat trousers, trainers and, inevitably, shades.

Stewart, who, our showbiz sources inform us, will be turning 48 later this year, seemed to be having a whale of a time, despite his advancing years.

Perhaps hanging out with All Saints has given him the secret of eternal youth.
