npower picks Comet boss to head branding

National Power has appointed former Comet communications strategy manager Kevin Peake as the first head of brand marketing of its domestic energy arm npower.

Peake will lead the drive to establish npower as a household brand. His role includes the responsibilities of former brand manager David Spring, who was in charge of branding across National Power.

Spring left earlier this year to become marketing manager of Worcester-based Bennetts Insurance.

Peake will report to npower marketing director David Andrew. The company will also appoint a head of home services.

Before joining Comet, Peake held marketing positions at Abbey National, TSB and Prospero, part of AXA Insurance.

Npower recently launched its first TV and poster campaign through TBWA GGT Simons Palmer and aims to spend &£20m on marketing this year. Media is through Manning Gottlieb Media.

Npower is hoping to offer a range of products and services, such as own-brand white and brown goods online, and plans to launch a green energy package.
