Anheuser appoints UK managing director

Andrew Day, president of the Japanese operation of Budweiser parent Anheuser-Busch, has been appointed as UK managing director.

Day replaces Peter Jackson, who is leaving Anheuser-Busch at the end of this month after 11 years. Jackson is believed to be considering opportunities in e-commerce.

The move is part of a wider management shake-up at the US brewing giant, which recently moved its UK headquarters from central to west London.

Budweiser marketing manager Lucy Gray, who left the company earlier last month, has been replaced by Kerry Bebe, former market ing manager of import brands.

James Lausada is expected to continue as marketing director.

Budweiser has seen its sales increase in the past six months on the back of its “Louie the lizard” TV campaign, which is considered by the company to be the most successful in its history.

Jackson became Anheuser-Busch’s UK marketing director in 1993, before becoming sales and marketing director and, in 1998, managing director.

He comments: “After 11 years with the company, I decided it was time to leave.

“When I started there were just 12 people working here and Budweiser was a very small brand.

“We have built it into a major US icon within the UK.”
