Capital promotes Oldham to top role in restructure

Capital Radio has promoted managing director of group radio Sally Oldham to the new board-level role of strategy and development director as part of a management restructure.

The appointment follows Capital’s acquisition of Border Television, including its three Century radio stations.

Oldham will be responsible for developing growth opportunities in the UK and overseas, licensing, acquisitions, digital radio and public affairs.

She joins the executive management team of financial director Peter Harris, group director of programmes Richard Park and commercial director Paul Davies. The team is responsible for planning and implementing Capital’s radio and Internet strategy and operations.

Group commercial director Davies becomes operations director and assumes responsibility for all Capital business, including the integration of the Border radio stations and Oldham’s previous responsibilities.

Five regional managing directors will report to Davies. Capital head of business development Graham Bryce has been appointed as managing director of Xfm, the youth radio station which is to benefit from investment this year as it extends to digital radio and online.

Adrian Jones becomes managing director of the Southern region, but retains his role as group finance director. Julie Fair keeps her position as Western region managing director. Managing directors for the Century stations and London (Capital FM and Capital Gold) have yet to be announced.

The responsibilities of Capital Radio advertising managing director Linda Smith – who joined the company from MediaVest in January – are expected to change. As is the company’s marketing strategy under head of marketing Vijay Solanki.
