New school of thought in the canteen

While school dinners have undergone a rapid change from mash, mushy peas and pie, to burgers, fizzy drinks and chips, the eating environment has often been neglected.

But all that is about to change. Brand and communications consultancy SCG London has been briefed by the education and catering arm of the Compass Group to develop “a new and exciting school meals brand and concept for secondary schools”.

Dull dining rooms are to be turned into contemporary style cafés, with bright “clubby” graphics and rebranded The Hub.

What next? Freaky designs on the walls of the gym and a rebranding of dreaded lessons such as maths?
