ScotsPower Retail hires M&C ‘suit

ScottishPower Retail, the domestic appliance retailer, has appointed Ronnie Wayte, deputy group account director at ad agency M&C Saatchi, as its head of retail marketing.

Wayte, who was account director on the Dixons business at M&C, will be responsible for the marketing strategy of ScottishPower’s 190-strong retail chain. He will report to ScottishPower group marketing director Dominic Kelly and retail managing director Ben Idun. He will manage a team of ten staff, along with advertising, design and PR agencies.

Kelly says: “Wayte was selected for the role because of his blue-chip and top-level marketing experience. Wayte’s role will be to maximise sales from existing channels to exploit strategic business differentials, such as the synergies between the energy and retail offer, which are unique to ScottishPower.”

Wayte says: “Since privatisation ScottishPower has developed rapidly and seized opportunities others have overlooked. The acquisition of Demon Internet and the relaunch of telecoms giant Thus has set ScottishPower apart as the sort of company I want to be involved in.”

Wayte has relocated from his London office to Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, to take up the position.
