Spar chief takes charge of Latium Group marketing strategy

Neil Henry, former marketing director of convenience store chain Spar UK, has been appointed to the new position of group marketing director of home improvement company the Latium Group.

Henry, who took up the post last week, will report to group chief executive Harvey Sampson. He will hold overall responsibility for the marketing strategy of the Cheshire-based group, whose main brands include the double glazing retailers Weatherseal and Everest. Each company will retain responsibility for its own marketing strategy.

Henry, who left Spar last month after five years, says: “I will not be looking after the day-to-day nuts and bolts, but will be looking at developing a marketing strategy across the group.” He says his initial task will be to review the group’s marketing.

Current chairman Brian Kennedy bought the then struggling Weatherseal for £50,000 in 1991. The company changed its name to the Latium Group last year, when it bought seven manufacturing and retailing businesses, including double glazing brand Everest, from the Caradon group for £55m.
