Smith & Nephew drops toiletry marketing chief in restructure
Smith & Nephew Consumer Products has restructured its marketing department, making one of its most senior marketers redundant.
Marketing controller Shelley Law has left with no job to go to.
Chris Fuller, also marketing controller, is understood to have been appointed as the top marketer. It is not clear whether he is to be given the title of marketing director – Smith & Nephew does not currently have anyone in the role.
All members of the marketing team will report to Fuller, who reports to Smith & Nephew managing director Geoffrey Percy.
Law was in charge of Smith & Nephew’s sanitary protection and toiletry brands, including Lil-lets and Simple. All brands will now be Fuller’s responsibility.
Law joined Smith & Nephew as brand manager on Lil-lets seven years ago from Allied Maples. During her time at Smith & Nephew, Law was responsible for changing Simple’s famous advertising line from “Not perfumed. Not coloured. Just kind” to “Skincare is simple”. The ad was created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R.
Smith & Nephew’s advertising is split between TBWA GGT Simons Palmer and Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R. It has a media spend of &£8.3m, bought by New PHD.
No one at Smith & Nephew would comment on Law’s departure.
