Thomson boss quits after two months.

Thomson Holidays board-level marketing chief Ed Aspel is quitting his job after less than two months to work with a former colleague.

Aspel, who started in May, is leaving to join bar chain Brannigan’s as marketing and strategic planning director. The chain was sold by First Leisure earlier this year to Mustard Entertainment, a management buyout consortium headed by former managing director of Whitbread Restaurants Stephen Evans.

Prior to joining Thomson, Aspel was group marketing director of Whitbread’s Pelican Group, which includes Bella Pasta and Café Rouge.

Part of Aspel’s remit was to help the company communicate positive messages about Thomson down through the organisation. He replaced Shaun Powell, who was promoted from marketing director to managing director (MW February 2).

Until a replacement is found, the individual heads of the marketing division will report to Powell.
