Delaney wins £12m Teletext task

Electronic text service Teletext has appointed Delaney Lund Knox Warren to handle its £12m advertising business.

The advertising campaign will attempt to make Teletext more user-friendly. The new work will coincide with the service’s launch as an information provider on many different platforms.

DLKW pitched against WCRS, McCann-Erickson, Grey Advertising and Partners BDDH. The incumbent, St Luke’s, declined to repitch for the business.

The digital version of the service will be launched on ONdigital later this autumn, and it will also be available through mobile phones with WAP technology. Teletext will be looking at developing more content for its website and existing analogue service on ITV and Channel 4.

DLKW will be responsible for all advertising, including a television campaign, which will break in the autumn. This will be backed by a media spend of £8m and a further £4m spend is planned for the spring.

The DLKW appointment was made by Teletext head of marketing Simon Curry, who joined the company last year from Mars.

Curry says: “We were impressed with DLKW’s understanding of the technology business and our business position within what is a dynamic and competitive market.”
