MSN, Microsoft’s Web portal, has scored a coup over arch-rival Yahoo! by appointing Yahoo!’s European marketing director Michelle Rutter to its regional marketing team in London. Her brief is to promote MSN as the “pre-eminent advertising destination” in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Rutter played a key role in Yahoo!’s WAP channel strategy. MSN is also strengthening its regional marketing team by promoting Sharon Baylay to director of marketing for the consumer group in EMEA, and Tom Bowman to director for programming and revenue, also for the EMEA region.
