Young’s marketing director quits

Young’s Bluecrest marketing director Andrew Lamb has left the seafood group after three years in the post.

Young’s – owner of major frozen food ranges Chip Shop and Seafood Ready Meals – refused to give a reason for his departure. It is unclear whether Lamb has a job to go to.

His responsibilities are being handled by group commercial director Jim Cane after the two roles were merged following Lamb’s departure.

Cane joined Young’s in April, having previously been marketing director of Ross Young’s and managing director of United Biscuits’ (UB) frozen and chilled products division.

Lamb recently oversaw a review of the company’s advertising account and before his departure appointed Doner Cardwell Hawkins to handle the £3m business.

Cane says he has no intention of calling another review. Grey Advertising resigned the Young’s account when it picked up a £10m pan-European task from its rival Findus in March. Cane says Lamb is “following up other interests”. Young’s chief executive Wynne Griffiths was unavailable for comment.

UB – which was recently taken over by the European consortium Finalrealm – and Legal & General both have a 44 per cent stake in Young’s. The rest is held by its management and banks.
