Capital marketer quits for IPC role

Capital Radio head of marketing Vijay Solanki has quit to join IPC Media as marketing director of its music and sport division.

It is the first in a number of senior marketing appointments to be made as part of a marketing strategy instigated by new group marketing director Philippa Brown.

Solanki will report to both Brown and IPC Music & Sport managing director Mike Soutar, who says: “Solanki will play a crucial role in developing our brand and community strategies, moving us towards fulfiling our vision of being the most dynamic men’s media business in the market.”

Solanki, who will sit on the board of IPC Music & Sport, says: “I’m excited about joining a media owner where the strategic vision is driven by brands and is about platform neutrality. The brands at IPC Music & Sport are ones I’ve grown up with. Titles such as Loaded and NME have the potential to be much more than magazines and websites.”

He joined Capital in March last year, where he was responsible for marketing initiatives including Party in the Park and the creation of radio station Life Digital Radio.
