Virgin Energy creates new director post

Online gas and electricity company Virgin Energy has appointed London Electricity head of retail strategy Simon Carter to the newly- created post of commercial director.

Carter will be responsible for managing relationships with suppliers such as London Electricity. Virgin Energy is a subsidiary of the Virgin Group’s online home services division Virgin Home.

He will negotiate relationships with providers of new services – other than gas and electricity – which Virgin Home plans to offer, such as telecoms.

Carter will report to Virgin Energy managing director Jon Kinsey.

Virgin Energy is soon to develop a range of online household services for Virgin Home.

Virgin Home, which launched as a one-stop site offering a range of utility services, has yet to unveil its plans.

Virgin plans to offer a single bill for water, gas, electricity and telecoms services through the Virgin Home site.

The company is also understood to be planning to offer customer the opportunity to book plumbing and decorating services over the Internet.
