Capital picks Merriman Herring Levy

Capital Radio has appointed Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy to work on a one-off project for its flagship 95.8 Capital FM station.

Capital Radio’s two-year relationship with Abbott Mead Vickers.BDDO ends this month and Capital Radio London head of marketing Vijay Solanki has decided not to appoint another full service agency. Instead it will use agencies for projects.

Solanki refuses to divulge details of the project. He is leaving Capital Radio in six months’ time to join IPC Media as marketing director of its music and sport division.

The Capital Radio Advertising (CRA) restructure continues with the promotion of head of sponsorship Rob Corlett to product director.

Corlett will head the business unit, which looks at how to maximise revenue from programming and content, and be responsible for sponsorship, promotions, the Network Group – Newslink and the Pepsi Chart – and cross-selling opportunities with Capital Interactive.

CRA managing director Linda Smith made Corlett’s appointment, after promoting Chris Bennett to sales director and Nikki Mendonca to strategic marketing director.

A former MediaVest commercial director, Smith restructured CRA into three divisions – sales, programming and strategic marketing – with Bennett, Corlett and Mendonca heading each unit.
