Atlantic Telecom picks new marketing director

Atlantic Telecom is promoting Amanda Doran to the role of UK marketing director after restructuring to integrate recently acquired First Telecom.

First Telecom head of marketing Doran becomes Atlantic Telecom UK marketing director.

Atlantic Telecom’s former sales and marketing director Martin Beard has been promoted to group commercial director, and will sit on the Atlantic Telecom Group executive board alongside executive chairman Graham J Duncan and managing director Gordon Sleigh.

Managing directors of each country Atlantic Telecom operates in – the UK, Germany and France – report to Beard.

Doran reports to the new UK managing director, Ian Pawlett, who was previously head of customer relations. Jackie Doyle, former head of marketing at Atlantic Telecom, has been promoted to business development director for the group.

The company is expected to change its name to Atlantic. As a result, it is likely to drop the Telecom name, the name of Atlantic Logic, another arm of its business, and the name of First Telecom, which has been run as a separate business since its &£520m acquisition in April.

An Atlantic Telecom spokeswoman says: “We are looking at branding across the whole group”. She says integration of the companies is expected to be completed by October.

The changes could spark a review of Aberdeen-based Atlantic Telecom’s ad arrangements, worth up to &£3m. The Leith handles the creative account and Feather Brooksbank handles media.

Atlantic Telecom is rolling out its operations to residential and business customers across the UK. The company sponsors Aberdeen Football Club and is to sponsor the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games. It has just launched a customer loyalty scheme, called Live Club.
