Ex-Selfridges marketer to head Beales advertising push

Department store chain Beales has appointed Caroline Howard, a former Selfridges senior marketer, as its first director of marketing.

Howard, who is retail marketing manager at Prudential Property Investment Managers, will be responsible for an above-the-line campaign to include in-store and external advertising. Ad agency Fox Kalomaski has been appointed as the creative agency.

Howard, was a senior marketing manager at Selfridges between 1990 and 1999. She will take up her position at Beales in September. She will report to chief executive Michael Mitchell, and will take up a position on the board on completion of a probationary period.

Howard says: “I will be covering all aspects of marketing, including advertising, PR and the store credit card.”

Beales decided to appoint a director of marketing and launch a promotional campaign after a six-month review of its marketing strategy. The Bournemouth-based company has nine stores across England, including Winchester, Poole, Yeovil, Kendal, Bolton and Southport.
