Camelot: Lottery Commission fight

Camelot was yesterday [Tuesday] granted permission to seek a judicial review of the Lottery Commission’s decision to negotiate the terms of the next lottery licence exclusively with the People’s Lottery.

But the High Court rejected Camelot’s request for an injunction to prevent the Lottery Commission from resuming talks with the People’s Lottery until proceedings were completed.

A Camelot spokeswoman says: “While the injunction we were looking for wasn’t granted, we are encouraged by assurances given by the judge that if we win the review we will be given the same opportunities as the People’s Lottery.”

But a spokesman for the Lottery Commission says: “The decision on the judicial review was not surprising because we didn’t oppose the application.”
