Nestlé has appointed former ICI Paints marketing director Magdalena Teare to the newly-created role of category marketing director for the company’s beverage division.

Teare’s appointment comes after Nestlé’s decision to restructure the division to develop its Nescafé coffee brand.

Teare will oversee the marketing team for brands which include Nescafé, Gold Blend, Black Gold, Blend 37, Cappuccino and Coffeemate.

Simon Hardy, previously consumer marketing director of Nescafé, becomes director of a new strategic innovations unit for the beverage division, with responsibility for new product development and testing.

Teare and Hardy will both report to beverage division managing director Gerhard Berssenbrugge.

Teare was previously marketing director for Dulux and Polycell at ICI Paints. She has also been UK and Ireland marketing director at Tampax manufacturer Tambrands, now owned by Procter & Gamble. Before that, she worked on Croft Sherry and Häagen-Dazs at Grand Metropolitan.

Teare says: “The opportunity to unlock the potential of Nescafé, the UK’s number one coffee brand, is very exciting.”

Berssenbrugge adds: “Teare’s depth of experience and strategic vision will add tremendous value to Nescafé.

“The new-look beverage division will focus on managing the development of the brands within the category while increasing the strength of the Nescafé name.”
