British Gas is launching a &£10m TV, radio, press and Internet advertising campaign on October 7 to launch its telecom services. The TV ads, which will run for seven weeks, have been created by BMP DDB.

Designed to help extend the British Gas brand from energy to fixed line, mobile and Internet services, the ads will use the slogan ‘Can’t dry your socks, could save your money’. The ads feature a father who cannot understand that a company he associates with heating and cooking is now able to provide his telephone service. The campaign’s second phase in the autumn will call on customers to sign up to the telecoms services.
