Amoy fills global marketing post

Jo Wallace has been appointed to the senior role of international marketing manager of HP Foods’ Amoy Noodles and Sauce Chinese food range. She takes over from Steve Conway, who quit in January to become marketing manager of Radio Five Live.

Wallace is HP’s top European marketer for Amoy products and reports to managing director Lucien Fa. She previously reported to Conway.

Amoy launched a £5m marketing campaign – its biggest to date – earlier this year to support new vegetable products in its Straight to Wok line and the new Noodles Like Fresh range.

Other Amoy products include Ready to Wok, Stir Fry Sauce and Noodles. Amoy has a 20 per cent share of the plain dried noodle market (Nielsen MEAL), behind Sharwood’s, which is owned by Centura Foods.

Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy handles all of HP Foods’ creative advertising, including HP Sauce, Lea & Perrins and the Amoy range. Media buying is handled by Carat, and planning by StarcomMotive.

HP Foods, part of Danone, spends about £10m on advertising across its brands (AC Nielsen MEAL).

It is not known whether Wallace plans to review the advertising.
