Classic case of robbing the blind

The Diary’s deepest sympathies go out to Classic FM sales director Simon Daglish, who, after passing out from excessive alcohol intake, suffered the indignity of being burgled while unconscious in his flat.

And not only did the light-fingered folk clear his abode of nearly all his consumer durables – they also walked off with his extensive classical CD collection, although strangely they left his set of A-ha hits.

As director of sales he must have had hundreds of classical CDs, so how on earth would someone be able to carry all of them out of the window?

Well, as it happens, they carried them out in their pockets. That was because his “extensive” collection stretched to only four – and two of those were Classic FM compilations.
