OMD is understood to have hired Nestlé’s UK media manager Matthew Pilcher for a senior international planning role.
Nestlé has confirmed Pilcher is leaving the company after 15 years to join the agency, but no one at OMD could confirm his appointment. It is not clear whether Pilcher will work for OMD UK or another part of the network.
Pilcher, a former deputy advertising manager at Marketing Week, joined Nestlé as a media executive in 1985. He progressed to the rank of media controller in 1987 before being appointed joint media manager in 1991. Pilcher was appointed media manager in 1995.
Pilcher, who will leave Nestlé before Christmas, reports to director of marketing services Philip Buckman.
Buckman will take charge of day-to-day media operations at Nestlé’s Croydon offices until a successor has been found. David Jarvis is the second media manager, based at Nestlé Rowntree in York.
A Nestlé spokesman says: “Buckman will cover Pilcher’s role and take a more hands-on approach to his existing responsibilities.”
OMD UK recently appointed Tania Harwood from CDP Media to the newly-created role of media strategy director. She will be responsible for planning across the Gillette, Duracell, Braun, Axa and Meat & Livestock Commission accounts.
